Mrs. LaJuan Adams

La Juan Adams, 87, passed away in her home surrounded by love and family, on March 27, 2026, in Rusk, Texas. La Juan was born in Houston, Texas on August 28, 1938, to Vernon Hutchins and Juanita Traylor on August 28, 1938. She was raised in Houston where she graduated from Galena Park High School in 1957. She married the love of her life JW Adams, on June 20, 1959 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage until his passing on February 1, 2026. She happily ended her career as a secretary when she became pregnant with her only daughter Kristi, whom she loved fiercely. La Juan was an avid crafter of "all the things". She was also a seamstress; making costumes for Kristi’s childhood events, her and JW’s square dancing attire and clothes for her family. She had a great love for music and dancing. She was a member of the Bayshore Wagonwheels square dancing club for many years. Most of all La Juan loved people. She cherished time spent with family and friends and was always up for a "new adventure" as she would say. LaJuan Adams was preceded in death by her husband, JW Adams, her parents Vernon Hutchins and Juanita Traylor, her sister Sharon Rafet, her stepfathers whom she loved dearly, Edward Crawford and Edward Holec, and her nieces Shari and Susan McKusker. She is survived by daughter Kristi Driver, Son-in-law & love Jeff Driver, niece Robyn Becker and husband Lance, nephew Scott Massey and wife Melissa, Grand Nephews Jacob McKusker, and Keaton and Brandon Massey, and various cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Jacob McKusker, Adam Sowest, Charlie Cornelius, Bruce Whitmeyer, Lazarus Metts, and Ab Crockett. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Traylor, Scott Driver, Luther Oliver, and Rick White. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to the building fund of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church at 927 Crockett St Rusk, TX 75785. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 in the Chapel of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk, Texas from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. with funeral services taking place on Saturday April 4, 2026, 1 p.m. at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Rusk, Texas. Bro. Lee Flowers officiating. All family and friends are invited to lunch at 11:30 am before services at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.
