Virginia Dickson

March 19, 1927 - March 22, 2012

Virginia Laura Dickson “Lady” 3/19/27 – 3/21/12 ‘Every cloud has a silver lining!’ Lady, 85 years of age, our beloved mother, grandmother (both great and great-great), aunt and friend passed away in Jacksonville, TX, after a series of minor illnesses. Virginia was born in Maydelle, TX, to Sam Jarrel McCreight and Mollie Mary Beauchamp. She married Vonnie Lee Dickson on January 12, 1946. Together they raised three children Mollie Jane Allen (deceased 1982), Sammie Lee Dickson (Roxann,) of Salt Lake City, UT and James Todd Dickson (Scott) of Arlington, TX. Virginia and Vonnie spent most of their years together in Pueblo, CO where they worked for the Colorado State Hospital. Upon retirement they returned to Rusk, TX, to be with family and friends. Virginia nursed many family members in their hardest and last part of their lives. Virginia was a member of the Rusk Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Mount Hope Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, daughter, sister, and five brothers. Survived by her two sons, four granddaughters, eight great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will include family and friends. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Rusk, TX. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
