Graveside services for Sue Kyle, age 84, of Arcadia, Louisiana are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mrs. Kyle died July 30, 2013 at her home in Arcadia following a lengthy illness. She was born January 19, 1929 in Kennard, TX to Jonas Reuben Westbrook and Bessie English Westbrook. She married Herschel Kyle on December 24, 1947 in Rusk. She was a social worker at Rusk State Hospital until moving with her family to Arcadia in 1980. She was an active member opf First Baptist Church of Arcadia and was instrumental in the creation of the "Mother's Day Out" at First United Methodist Church of Arcadia, running the program for 25 years and touching the live of hundreds of young people to whom she was known as "Miss Sue". She took great delight in later years in teaching the children of those she had previously taught. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Kyle,a son, Kent Kyle, brother, Henry Westbrook and a sister, Barbara Westbrook. Survivors are her daughter, Kay Rice of Flint, TX,her son, Kelly Kyle of Jackson, Mississippi, granddaughters, Karen Rice Williams (Daniel) of Temple, TX, Susan Rice Cannon Hawley (Mike) of Whitehouse, TX, three great grandchildren, Claire and Logan Cannon and Mark Williams. She is also survived by her sister, Wanda Norman, her brother, David Westbrook, both of Rusk, and sister-in-law, Verna Kyle Hall of Tyler, TX. There will be no visitation.
