Mary Ellen Goff

Graveside services for Mary Ellen Goff, age 101, of Rusk are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 in Old Palestine Cemetery with Rev. Don Copeland officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mrs. Goff passed away October 29, 2013 in a Jacksonville nursing home. She was born February 17, 1912 in Forest, TX to the late Thomas J. and Maggie Mae McGraw Bailey. Mrs. Goff was a lifelong resident of Rusk, a member of First Baptist Church in Rusk and also of the Eastern Star in Rusk since 1952. She retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1972 after 23 years of service and was also a dedicated worker at the Good Samaritan in Rusk. Mrs. Goff loved to quilt, had a very giving, loving and feisty personality, and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie F. Goff, son, Morris M. Goff, grandson, Stephen D. Goff, (Vicki Goff Thompson of Jacksonville), one brother and three sisters. Survivors include granddaughter, Traci Miles of Jacksonville, grandson, Danny Welch of Rusk, five great grandchildren, Candace Garcia and husband Frank of Dialville, Tevin and Samuel Miles of Jacksonville, Stephen M. Goff and wife Ashley of Rusk, Kaitlyn Welch Cole of Jacksonville, two great great grandchildren, Rayleigh K. Goff of Rusk, Frank Ryan Garcia II of Dialville and numerous friends and family. Pallbearers will include Stephen Goff, Danny Welch, Ira Atkins, Johnny Blank, James Garner and Frank Garcia. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2013 at the funeral home.
