Funeral services for Francis (Mano) Murphy, age 85, of Rusk are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rusk with Father Juan Carlos Rivera officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mr. Murphy was born to Francis Bud and Allie Vincent Murphy on September 11, 1928 in Cameron, Louisiana. He left us May 14, 2014 at a Rusk nursing home. Left to cherish his memories are five adored daughters, Karen Murphy of Freeport, TX, Rhonda Poje of Atlanta, Georgia, Darla Phillips and husband Jackie of Missouri City, TX, Dawn Yntema of Missouri City, Scarlet Hoogakker and husband Doug of Battle Creek, Michigan, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous relatives in Cameron, Louisiana, special friends, Dell Knoebel, Sam Sumrall and James and Mattie Bates all of Rusk. Mano, Daddy, Popa, will be missed dearly and remembered for love of family and friends, his not ever meeting a stranger, his big heart generosity, concern for the well being of others, in addition to his quick wit and smiles. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alva Mae Murphy Savoie, brother, Kermit Murphy. Pallbearers will include Jackie Phillips, Chad Brandt, Eric Poje, Cameron Phillips, Thomas Fielding and Anthony Fielding. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Hoogakker, Brice Yntema, Gerrit Yntema, Hunter Hoogakker, Tim Fletcher, Derek Hardie, Brian Hardie, Sam Sumrall and Eddie Toomer. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m., to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the funeral home.
