October 22, 1939 - October 25, 2013

Graveside services for Ethel Roberta Work, age 74, of Rusk are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Salem Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Gentry officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mrs. Work was a Baptist and lifetime resident of Rusk, TX. She was born October 22, 1939 to Ray and JoAnn Gentry and passed away October 25, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Charlie Aubrey Work, grandson, Michael James Work (Jamie), sister, Connie Gentry and niece, Natalie Ham. Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Brenda and Billy Stennett of Rusk, son, Michael and Cindy Work of Rusk, daughter, Tammy and James Greer of Jacksonville, son, Charlie Ray Work of Rusk, (very special little nurse) and great granddaughter, Jayda Stennett of Rusk, grandson, Billy and Megan Stennett of Rusk, granddaughter, Brandi and Randy Morgan of Rusk, granddaughters, Mary Ann and Richard Cook of Rusk, Josie and Chris Peace of Rusk, Terry and Blain Vassar of Carthage, TX, Sherry and Joshua Bobbitt of Rusk, Jennifer and Patrick Work, grandsons, Kelly Jones of Jacksonville, Jeremy and Nicole Work, Edward and Candice Work of Nacogdoches, Bryan Work of Oklahoma, fifteen great grandchildren, sister, Betty Hartless of Rusk, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. She was a loving mother and nanny and a very hard worker. She had many jobs including the sewing factory, pistol plant, Rusk State Hospital, and retiring after putting in 24 years at TDCJ Sky View Unit in 2004 in Rusk. She has fought cancer since 2006 but it finally took her home to Heaven. She will be missed dearly. Pallbearers will include Phillip Brent, David Gentry, Scott Lucas, Jimmy Lankford, Billy Joe Davis and Keith Brooks. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the funeral home.
