Alice A. Harriman

May 13, 1920 - February 20, 2019

Alice Harriman, 98, Loving wife, dedicated mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday February 20, 2019 in her home at Meadows Place, Texas. Alice was born May 13, 1920 near Ganado, Texas to Paul and Julia Tkac Kovar. Raised during the "Great Depression" she had to quit school and help her family in the fields as a child and teenager. She worked as a Certified Welder during the World War 2 era, and then moved on after the war, working for the Nabisco Company. During this time she met her husband William C. Harriman, and cherished her 58 year together as a faithful housewife and mother of 5 children. Alice enjoyed life, she would engage you in spirited conversations where you would listen to her stories. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and feeding livestock. Taking time to enjoy the outdoors fishing and hunting. She would sit and fish and relax in the evenings after a long day on the farm. As an avid cook, she loved to bake Kolaches and homemade bread for her family. Later in life she moved to Houston to enjoy her last years with family and many friends met along the journey. She was a member of the KJZT Fraternity for over 77 years. She is preceded in death by her husband William Harriman, son Michael Harriman, and granddaughter Lori Majeski. Her parents Paul and Julia Tkac Kovar, brothers Bennie and Emil Kovar, and sisters Mary Ann Starns, Ula Mae Tadlock, and Otella Mulle. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, John Harriman, William Harriman, and Chris Harriman, her beloved daughter and caregiver Bernadette Majeski and husband Charles Majeski, grandchildren Eric Majeski, Lisa Majeski-Henriquez and husband Will Henriquez, William Harriman II, and Tamara Harriman, Great grandchildren, Juliana Henriquez, Gissabeth Henriquez and Kolby Blackmon, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary and visitation at Wallace Thompson Funeral Home, Rusk, Texas, March 1, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rusk, Texas March 2, 11:00 a.m. with Father Jorge Dinguis officiating. Following the mass, graveside services will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Palestine, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers, will be Joe Mulle, Thomas Mulle, Eric Majeski, William Harriman II, John Harriman, and Apolinar Serrato, and Honorary Pallbearer Ben Kovar. Funeral Services under the direction of Wallace Thompson Funeral Home, condolences may be left at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
