Linda Tropp

A memorial service for Linda Tropp, age 74, of Rusk, will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Tropp passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her home in Rusk surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 20, 1945 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Oscar and Sallie Weaver. Linda’s love for her family and friends was shown in many ways throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking and caring for them without thought for herself. Her ability to make all feel welcomed was displayed daily. She truly never met a stranger. Her joy and laughter lifted all spirits around her. She enjoyed going to church and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Her love didn’t stop with her family and friends as she had an ability to make anything grow. Her ‘green thumb’ was not wasted. She made a home for all animals who crossed her path and over the years many found their forever homes. She is preceded in death by her parents, a husband of 26 years, Howard C. McKissick, Jr., three children, sisters Pauline Duggan and Margie Wolfe and uncle Robert Riley. Her legacy will live on in her husband of 17 years, Don Tropp of Rusk, son, Jerry McClure of Shiloh, Daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Tommy Smith of Humble, daughter, Tonya Tropp of Elm Grove, sister Billie Wilcox of Henderson, brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Vicky Weaver of Jacksonville, sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and David Cannon of Troup, granddaughters, Kara, Amy, Libby, Kyleigh, Katie, grandsons, Brandon, Tyler, Matthew, Zachary, Jacob, 8 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and the father of her children, Dwain McClure of Texas City. Special thanks to Hospice of East Texas for the continuous care and support with a special thanks to our angel on earth, Geary. The family is asking that all who would like to attend the upcoming service are welcomed and encouraged to share their stories of Linda, “Peewee”, as she was known to her friends growing up. We ask you to honor her by wearing any shade of purple, her favorite color.
